Heavy Equipment Hire Rates in Nigeria: What to Expect
These rates come from publicly listed prices checked in October 2026. One source shows excavators at a fraction of what another lists, which is why a rate without its inclusions says little. Ask what is and is not covered.

- Payloader (wheel loader) hire, per day: about ₦85,000 to ₦140,000 in one source; one other listing shows ₦700,000

- Generator rental, 500 kVA and 1000 kVA: not published; quoted by duration, location and fuel arrangement
Why the Ranges Are So Wide
- Sources disagree widely, so treat a single quoted rate with care
- Many quotes exclude diesel, the operator and mobilisation
- Location, access and the distance from the yard change the final price
- Minimum hire periods and overtime rules vary by provider
- Condition and age of the machine affect the rate and the reliability
How to Compare Quotes
- Ask whether the rate includes operator, diesel, insurance and mobilisation
- Ask about the minimum hire period and standby charges
- Ask how breakdowns are handled and whether a replacement machine is provided
- Confirm how the machine will be transported to and from site
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the daily hire rate include the operator and diesel?
Often not. Many daily rates exclude the operator, diesel and transport to site, so confirm each item before comparing quotes.
Why are generator rental rates not published?
Large generator rental depends on duration, site, fuel arrangement and delivery, so providers quote each job individually.
