Oil-Filled Units

  • Mineral-oil cooled (ONAN) units suit outdoor substations and pole or pad installations, and carry a lower price per kVA than dry-type
  • Oil needs sampling and testing over the unit's life, and a bund or oil pit under larger units
  • Conservator-type units usually carry a Buchholz relay, a thermometer and a pressure relief device

Buying a 1500kVA Transformer in Nigeria

  • Buyers across Nigeria are contractors, factories, utilities, ports and oil and gas operators with both onshore sites and offshore support bases.
  • Imported units usually clear at Apapa, Tin Can Island or Onne, and move to site by low-bed trailer, so delivery time depends on how far site is from the port.
  • Confirm connection and metering requirements with your distribution company (DisCo) before ordering

What to Check Before You Pay

  • Nameplate: kVA, voltage ratio (for example 11/0.415 kV or 33/0.415 kV), vector group, impedance and cooling class
  • A factory or independent test report: ratio, winding resistance, insulation resistance and load and no-load losses
  • Oil breakdown voltage, tank condition, bushings, gaskets and signs of leaks
  • Tap-changer type and range, and the accessories included
  • Applicable standard, for example IEC 60076, and what the warranty covers

1500kVA Oil-Filled Transformer at a Glance (Approximate)

  • Full-load current on the 415 V side: about 2087 A
  • Full-load current on the 11 kV side: about 79 A, and about 26.2 A on the 33 kV side
  • Vector group Dyn11 and impedance of roughly 4 to 6 percent are common on distribution units. Confirm both on the nameplate and the test report

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does a 1500kVA oil-filled transformer cost in Nigeria?

We do not publish a fixed price, because it moves with condition, hours, specification, delivery and the exchange rate. Send your requirement on WhatsApp and we will get comparable quotes.

Oil-filled or dry-type: which should I buy?

Oil-filled suits outdoor substations and costs less per kVA. Dry-type suits indoor and fire-sensitive sites, because it has no oil, but it needs clean, ventilated space.

What current does a 1500kVA transformer carry?

About 2087 A on the 415 V side at full load. On the primary side it is about 79 A at 11 kV and about 26.2 A at 33 kV.

Can you help me source a 1500kVA transformer in Nigeria?

Yes. Tell us the voltage ratio, oil-filled or dry-type, new or refurbished and the delivery location in Nigeria on WhatsApp, and we will connect you with suppliers.
